Description

The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH) launched Queerstory as an initiative aiming to digitize, publish online, and promote a collection of photographs, printed materials, and audiovisual components that document LGBTQ+ leaders, communities, activism, and triumphs in Santa Cruz County from 1974 to present. A collaboration with the Diversity Center of Santa Cruz County, who donated much of the collection, the project is made possible through a generous preservation and accessibility grant from the California State Library.

Queerstory is part of a multi-year effort by the MAH to digitize and provide online access to all of its archives, but particularly those that elevate the histories of marginalized and disenfranchised groups.
